About Avighna Power
Selling UPS for past ten years they focus on products in the range of 0.5 kW to 50 kW. As such they are competent in providing solutions from managing one computer to 150-200 systems in a company. Currently, 25% of their customers are corporate and rest are residences. Their goal is to have them at 50-50.
Annual Maintenance Contract is a big thing to generate revenue. It turns out better with corporate, who depend on their UPS supplier to do all the maintenance, so the result is better revenues.
Avighna keeps track of their customers by keeping maintenance cards. Now, they are trying to utilize Google Sheets to store data in the cloud and gradually move away from the basic manual process. They strive to deliver excellent service. Once, they get to know prospect’s requirement, Avighna works out the optimum solution and suggests the remedy that would resolve their needs. This has resulted in them having long-term relationships, as they always keep customer’s needs in mind.
Avighna is also smart to request for a payback in terms of referrals. Harish who runs Avighna opines, “When a customer believes me, whatever he needs I will give it to him. From him, I want a reference, and that’s good enough.”
They also have a strong relationship with their suppliers. The most robust brand for them is Luminous. Microtek is only 10% and they also deal in Amaron and Exide. However, they prefer and recommend Luminous, “Luminous is a unique product. Only 5% complaints. Only 2% manufacturing defects. Rest 3% – wiring, electrical issues.”
The Manager – Harish C J
Harish is a resourceful and energetic person, who built this business from scratch ten years back. For the first six years, he worked along. Then, graduated to having two service persons. His business picked up from 2014 and he now manages the business with a team of three.
He has built a strong reputation for being always present for his clients and is known as ‘Power Man’ to his customers. His education background is interesting. After completing diploma in pharmacy, he started a medical store in 1992, a business that he ran for 16 years.
“I was the youngest pharmacist in medical history. First person to introduce a billing software in medical history as a retail software, in 1998”, says Harish.
After some issues with the locations and building owner, he decided to do something very different. As he was always interested in the technical side, he worked with a friend in UPS business and gained experience for 9 months. He also ran a Satyam Cyber Centre 1- years back.
However, considering the poor electrical supply in Bengaluru and his interested, he initiated the UPS business and started Avighna Power. His industrious nature has now lead him to begin a new initiative in Avighna called, Battery Enhancement Program.
As per Harish, this is a first such venture in Bengaluru focused on regenerating old batteries. They become new once again, which eventually results in savings – “Get old battery. Should not be dead. Weak is fine. If the voltage is 10.8, then one can regenerate. Save 70% money.”
Harish says that the technology is simple. He has a machine at his end for regeneration. He digs into his pharma background to give an analogy, “The battery is like a patient. We figure out what treatment we need to give.”
Avighna has always seen the benefit of possessing a strong online presence. However, they did not spend much on digital arena. They had basic packages with other online listing sites. Harish feels that they get about 25% of their customers through the web, and then he captures the other 75% through referrals.
Till 2015, Avighna had spent more than 50k in a year on various other platforms. He upgraded his paid package to platinum. Paid 90k for 3-months. But then they stopped as the results were disappointing. Harish comments, “Now I don’t go for any advertisements. Only stick with NowFloats.”
Avighna also tried Google Adwords with an amount of Rs 1500 but received no response. He is interested in trying it out further and discussed WildFire in that regards.
Avighna has been with NowFloats since February 2015 and signed up till 2018. They are contented with the fact that their only website is with NowFloats and are keen to have it fully furnished with all the details of their products. At the same time, keeping it updated.
Avighna’s online ranking has improved and a stronger online visibility has lead to inquiries. Harish likes the various aspects of NowFloats and appreciates that his brand has become more known – “Now more people know about Avighna – what we are doing and how.”
They also get calls. Harish makes it a point to inquire from where they discovered his number. He values the power of posting frequently as he has seen the positive results based on regular updating of content, “What we post is what counts.”
Harish uses both laptop and mobile. He also does the simultaneous posting on Facebook. He wanted to post on Twitter as well but was having some problem with regards to that. He hasn’t used email subscription feature but checks the performance through the analytics section.
Avighna updates frequently. Harish was following a rule of daily posting – “Every morning I first pray. Then after that, I take out my mobile and update.”
Harish intends to share his load of managing NowFloats with a lady team member, who shall be trained by him to post relevant content regularly.
Harish finds NowFloats support very good. He hasn’t tried RIA. Whenever he has a problem, he calls up the local team and trusts them to have the issue resolved – “I call local team, and they solve the problem.”
Suggestions and Expectations
Harish is always happy to do that and says that he had given one reference. Avighna believes they have a good future in store with NowFloats. They want to generate more leads and get more customers in coming months, “Hoping it equals other directory services. In my category, for UPS dealer, for one keyword, they get 1000 inquiries and distribute to everyone. We should be able to get more queries on NowFloats.”
Avighna, run by an enterprising person who likes to stay on top of his game banks on NowFloats a great deal. For him to keep receiving the advantages of being online, we need to keep encouraging him and keep sharing new developments that he could utilize to perform even better in the coming months.
