Dwarkadhish Industries which started in 1993 has come a long way and done tremendously in making its mark when it comes to manufacturing all types of food processing machinery. Some of the machinery they build are gravy machines, juicers, mixers, gas ovens, dough machines, chilly grinder, graters, dry fruits cutting machines. It’s like they can build almost anything you ask for.
Dwarkadhish Industries deal with traders, dealers and end users of hotels, catering and dairy industries all across India. The effervescent Girishbhai comments about his customers – “Puri India se customers aate hai. Kashmir se hai. Dimapur se hai. Nagaland se hai…” They have been dealing with dealers for many years, and now they utilize the Internet to directly reach their customers – “Pehli bhi dealers hai. Har rajya mein hai. Andhra, Chhatisgarh, Orissa, MP, Maharashtra…”
For many years, they worked on referrals and dealers network, but now their scale has increased thanks to the digital medium – “Pehle toh online ka business nahin tha, ab online ka badh gaya hai. Chaar saal mein kaafi bada hai.” The growth has been a lot, so much so that the demand is much more than what they can currently handle – “Order pending rehta hai. Abhi hum order se kaam kar rahein hai. Aapko paanch-che din, ek hafte ki wait karni padegi.”
Dwarkadhish Industries has major expansion plans, which is already under way and will move to a new unit after a year. They have taken a plot that is ten times bigger than the current one, so they can be ahead of the demand, be always stock ready and double their existing business. Girish remarks about the current challenges of production – “Machinery banane ke liye jagah choti pad rahi hai. Iss liye 15 km door humne GIDC mein jagah liya hai, kaam chaalu hai. Isse dus guna jyaasti jagah hai. Ek saal lagega.”
The value of machines can vary from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,50,000. Dwarkadhish Industries typically prefers an advance payment of 50%. But they are not very strict about it and work on a basis of trust – “Jo paisa nahin dete, unko bhi bhej dete hai products. Par woh ek percent hota hai.” They have a team of 12 people in their only manufacturing unit in the Channiara Estate.
The Manager – Girish
Girish runs the show with a lot spirit and is very light-hearted. He has been at the forefront of establishing the business and has taken it to great heights. He believes in providing quality products, which importantly, do not require servicing and can operate effectively for a long while – “Hamara item simple simple. Koyi maintenance wala machine nahin hai. Dikaat ayegi to uska spare saath mein de dete hai.”
Girish puts the value that Dwarkadhish provides in an interesting manner – “Customer ko maloom hi na pade hum kahan se item laatein hai. Baat khatam.”
With help of his Internet savvy relatives and team, he is now expanding his reach online as he understands that the world searches for products on the web – “Ab online se kissi ko bhi maal chahiye, woh fatafat, online se inquiry bhej deta hai.”
Dwarkadhish Industries has been quite active online since past 4-5 years. They have a presence on listing portals as well. Their total business that comes from the web is 40%. Every year they spend about Rs 3 lakhs for digital marketing.
Girish is clear that he spends only if he is assured of the returns – “Result aayega toh hee renewal kareyenge, nahin to doosri baar mana kar denge. Paisa daav par lagaya hai, woh humara nikalna chahiye.” Their online business is growing by about 10% and they are happy that they get the return on their investment – “Pehle business kum tha. Ab dheere dheere badh raha hai.”
It was very interesting to find a Mumbai customer at Dwarkdhish Industries who had searched for them and landed at their factory. The person is famous for making (ice) Golas in Borivali, Mumbai, and came to buy a machine for same – “Phone par search kiya. Pahunch bhi gaye, aur buy bhi kar liya.”
